What can you do to help...?
Our staff team and children work incredibly hard to achieve overall good standards and love school life and all it has to offer. We also value our hard working parents, who really support the school and the work we do. Parents, please find below some key information relating to tests in school, for specific year groups.
If your child is in Y1 they will take the ‘Phonics Screening Check’:
Your child will take a statutory, national test in Phonics this year and will be tested, in school, by members of staff who they know well. This will take around 10 minutes per child and will be done in the most pleasant, fun way possible by our experienced staff team! This is not school’s choice to do this test, it is a National expectation and must be done by all schools in the UK. These tests will be carried out in the week beginning Monday 10th June 2024 (into the week after). Regular attendance is always good, but please ensure your child is in school for this week and the week after and I ask that you do not book holidays during this time.
If your child is in Y2 and needs to re-sit the ‘Phonics Screening Check’:
If you have been notified that your child needs to repeat the Phonics Screening, they too will be taking the test again in this week beginning Monday 10th June 2024 (into the week after). This will be done in exactly the same way as the Y1 test so again good attendance in this week is needed and do not book holidays during this time.
If your child is in Y4 they will take their Key Stage 2 tests:
Your child will take a a statutory multiplication test testing them on all the tables from 1x - 12x. This will take place in a 2-week period from Monday 3rd June 2024.
If your child is in Y6 they will take their Key Stage 2 tests:
Your child will take a series of statutory, national tests in core curriculum areas. Whilst children work even more independently in these tests, they will still be done near staff who they know well and feel at ease with. These tests will be administered during the week beginning Monday 13th May 2024. Please, once again, ensure your child has good attendance in this period of time and please work with us and do not book holidays during this time.
We know so many of you follow our school policy of no holidays in term time, which we appreciate. We also know some parents have few other options than to book in term time. However, please can we stress how important these tests are to the children, staff and school. The children in these year groups are already focused on their task in hand this year and really want to succeed! Staff work so hard to make sure our children make great progress too, it would be a shame if attendance let the children down. Please be mindful that the children are on a journey throughout the year and any interruption to teaching and learning time will set them back, especially if close to or just before the tests. We hope this informs parents, because I know a few families have already been asking for dates!
Should you require any further dates, do not hesitate to look at the following address:
