Sandhill in the Community
We want to support our local community by giving back as much as possible! If you have any suggestions about how Sandhill can support Great Houghton, please share these with us...we love our school and want to help make our community the best that it possibly can be!
"Having support from Sandhill Primary School at our community events is always greatly appreciated by Great Houghton Parish Council. Seeing the children participate in these events is the highlight for both ourselves and residents!"
"The work that staff and children put in to produce the beautiful and poignant Armistice displays for our Remembrance Day Service are phenomenal. This artwork and their attendance is crucial and greatly appreciated. These things are the most important part for ourselves, our residents and our village armed forces members. We cannot thank them enough!"
"Our village Christmas lights switch on would not be as magical without the Sandhill School Choir's performance. The pleasure and fun they bring with their confident smiles is what Christmas is all about and is the highlight of our Community's year!"
"Sandhill Primary School office staff were crucial to our project that distributed new pyjamas to those children & families that needed them most, during the utility & cost of living crisis. They ensured we could provide a discrete service during an unprecedented time of local need.
This project although led by Great Houghton Youth Group, was the collaboration of local people, businesses, the Parish Council and Sandhill Primary staff. A fantastic example of the whole community working together with the school at the heart of it."
"Great Houghton Youth Group were delighted by the effort & imagination showed by Sandhill School Pupils who participated in our Pleasant Avenue Park Consultation. Their suggestions for inclusive play equipment was thoughtful and outstanding and ensured our discussions around inclusivity were from the point of view of young people who will use the equipment which was very valuable information."
"The Children’s performance of songs at Great Houghton Youth Groups ‘Over 50’s Reading Room Project Lunch’, really showed how much they love performing and the preparation & dedication that had been undertaken by them & school in readiness for the Young Voices.
The performance was impromptu after they had prepared & served up Beef Stew, Yorkshire puddings & dessert to 35 of our senior citizens. A quick practice with our Performance Artist & they were ready to go! The confidence, smiles & enjoyment in the room was immeasurable! Moments & memories like these are priceless and helps us to build strong & happy communities."
