Geography at Sandhill Primary
The Geography Leader is Mr C Jordan
Our Geography Curriculum is designed to develop curiosity about the world and the people who live in it. Teaching equips pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. We aim to provide children with knowledge and skills that will aid them for the rest of their lives. At Sandhill Primary we spend time learning about where we live and our local surroundings to give children a strong sense of who they are. Through high quality teaching, we develop the following essential characteristics of geographers:
• The ability to investigate a range of places in Britain and the wider world, focussing on both physical and human processes;
• A love of ‘hands on’ practical field work linked to the topics they are learning;
• A thorough knowledge of where places are and what they are like across the globe;
• An extensive base of geographical understanding and vocabulary;
• The ability to question, explore, investigate and evaluate geographical findings.
